Leeds Teaching Schools

Teaching schools are schools that work with others to provide high-quality training and development to new and experienced school staff. They are part of the government’s plan to give schools a central role in raising standards by developing a self-improving and sustainable school-led system.

Schools that apply to become teaching schools must meet certain criteria, including an ‘outstanding’ rating from Ofsted and a proven track record in supporting schools. Teaching school status is open to all schools in England regardless of type or phase.

If your school does not meet the criteria, or if you simply don’t want to apply, you could consider working with a teaching school as a strategic partner. This would involve helping the teaching school to perform aspects of their role.  Strategic partners may include ITT providers, the local authority and dioceses.
